Travel Diary: Plitvice Lakes
This might be the shortest Travel Diary from Croatia, but I need to give a small shout out to the Plitvice Lakes.
Despite the fact that we left Split, where it was sunny and 26 degrees, to drive there, despite the fact that it was a chilly 13 degrees in Plitvice, despite the fact that it rained for two days straight, and that we were totally ill-equipped for inclement weather (a fact that my mom lamented with each rain-sodden step), and despite the fact that the list of forbidden activities is longer than the list of ingredients in Cheez Whiz, the Lakes were still pretty beautiful. It’s not hard to see why people trek here year-round for a hike of the Upper Lakes, the Lower Lakes, or both.
A quick search for #Plitvice on Instagram will show you some beautiful shots. And even with the rain, we managed to snap some good ones too.
