Bespoke Boots Made Just For You
You might have heard I was on the hunt for a pair of winter boots recently, but I don’t think I mentioned that that was just one, in a number of shoe searches constantly underway in my life. The perfect nude pump. A pair of leopard flats. I’m always on the lookout for these elusive items, particularly in a style that will fit and flatter my wide, size 10 feet (not to mention my budding bunions – thanks for that mom). Thankfully, it looks like I may have a new source to search with the introduction of Poppy Barley, a made-to-measure footwear company.
According to the company’s website, over 60% of women struggle to find footwear that fits. Sisters, and Poppy Barley founders, Kendall and Justine Barber were among them – Justine with high arches and Kendall with runner’s calves. After an experience in Bali, where Justine commissioned a pair of bespoke boots, the sisters decided to bring the concept back home to North America, offering made-to-measure footwear to anyone with access to a measuring tape and the internet.
Blending tradition and technology, Poppy Barley makes luxury, handcrafted, custom-made boots and flats, to your exact measurements and specifications. Their current collection includes six boot styles and three flats, available in up to 10 colours and with customizable details like metallic hardware and colour blocking.
Every pair of boots and shoes is handmade by leather artisans in León, Mexico, and comes with a guarantee of the perfect fit, customized style, luxurious quality, and ultimate comfort.
I haven’t tried them out yet, but I have my eye on The Savannah Hill, a classic English riding boot, in a rich tobacco, or in black, with chocolate brown colour blocking. In a world where anything is accessible to anyone, anywhere, the idea of a boot, made just for me, holds real appeal. And if they provide comfort and style, I may be firmly in love.
