Curious Citizen is an evolution of my existence in the blogosphere. My blog 2.0 you might say. (Or is that reference totally out of date? Are we at a 5.0 now? Is the number system even applicable anymore? Can you tell I’m not a techie?)
I started my first blog in 2010. At the time, I wanted a place to write about really anything that piqued my interest. Food. Fitness. Fashion. Pop culture. Politics. It was kind of a shotgun approach to blogging. As I gradually began exploring other blogs, I started to learn about what I liked and, equally important, what I didn’t. I developed a number of favourite sites, and I started to fine-tune my personal scope and aesthetic. All of which has led to what you see here today.
Curious Citizen still has the faint overtones of my personal ramblings, but it’s now focused on the things I love most – life, style, travel, food, and design. If you’re someone who loves these things too, then welcome. I hope you enjoy.
A few other tidbits about me…
I love almond butter, roasted chestnuts, and chocolate chip cookies from Le Gourmand.
I can’t set foot in a Bulk Barn without spending at least $30 on assorted chocolate-covered treats.
I eat burgers from the outside in, and pears from the top down.
The sound I love most is the sound of a tennis match. It reminds me of summer.
My favourite books are (in no particular order), I Was Told There’d Be Cake by Sloane Crosley, Let’s Pretend This Never Happened by Jenny Lawson, and Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? by Mindy Kaling. Oh, and Goldie Hawn’s autobiography because that woman has some interesting things to say on life.
I love to travel. 36 countries and counting. Some of my favourite places include Italy, NYC, Bali, and Patagonia. It’s an eclectic and evolving list.
I will believe almost anything. Sarcasm is usually lost on me.
